Following Sunday nights trials, a pre-selection for the final squad has been made.
Sunday saw some new talent walk through the doors at Waldegrave and there was some stiff competition on the court. Head Coach Isaac Omirin made it clear from the offset that no player from last year had a sure spot on the team. This meant that after a slow start to brush out any cobwebs from the long time away, it was a very competitive night.
“There are around 7 players going for the 4/5 spot this year so that is definitely the most fought for position tonight!”
The trials included half court action and then a full court game where players would get their chance to show what they had to offer on the court. The final game finished with a tie game and 30sec left on the clock and a buzzer beating layup to seal the game.
After a great night of basketball, the pre-selection has been complete and if the players survive the upcoming weeks of pre-season training they will be announced in the squad throughout the summer.
